A finely executed glass lamp from the Wilhelminian period, probably made around 1875-1880. The lamp came from France, but for me its origin is still unknown. The shape and the material are not very French. Such finely made glass lamps were more likely from Germany or Austria. Of course, I could be wrong; but I suspect the lamp was made in Bohemia on behalf of a German or Austrian lamp manufacturer.
Its beautiful shape and the fine enamel painting on whitish opal glass give the lamp a solemn touch. However, I had to discover later that the dark brown stains on the decorative garlands of the column, which look like kerosene/paraffin dirt, are made of greenish-brown enamel paint that was applied somewhat thickly in these places and has a dark colour after firing. Unfortunately, these stains cannot be removed and look like spots of dirt.
The Gaudard burner supplied was electrified. I replaced it with a 14’’’ Kosmos burner by K&T.
An old St. Louis tulip shade with a cut top rim suited the lamp very well.

The entire lamp body made of white mould-blown opal glass. Bottom with tear-off hole and handwritten mark: P.1727. No=5053. Fine ornamental decoration with paste-like applied enamel colours. Round base, Ø 153 mm. Short conical column.
Font of the same glass, profiled, Ø 144 mm. Some paint abrasion on decorative lines.
