A medium sized pillar lamp in white alabaster, with beautifully decorated zinc castings. The lamp came from Italy, but with a cheap Duplex burner.

In particular, the intricately cut crystal font and the neat base and column combination elevate the lamp above the ordinary. The zinc castings were freshly sprayed with a gold paint. I re-bronzed them using my method with brass wax.

A new production blue tulip shade that I had had for some time suited the white lamp very well. Dazzling white alabaster parts, golden bronzed zinc cast parts and the intense blue tulip shade complement each other quite well, I think.

I replaced the cheap Duplex burner and the chimney with round bulge with better parts, of course: a 16’’’ Reform-Kosmos burner from Schuster & Baer and a 16''' Kalthoff chimney were far better suited to this high-quality lamp.

The burner by Schuster & Baer bears the initials of Hugo Schneider on the back of the wick knob. The same burner on lamp L.143, however, bears the initials of Brökelmann, Jaeger & Busse on the back. This is somewhat puzzling. Did Schuster & Baer also make this burner for other burner manufacturers? Another, identical burner in my collection has no initials of another company.

Marked: Crystall "K" Cylinder (in a star frame) 16'''.

Shade and shade holder:
Tulip shade, frosted glass, blue on top, lighter on the bottom, transparent floral motifs, upper rim fluted and frilled. New production from Poland.
Height 185 mm, Ø fitter 83 and top rim 255 mm.
85 mm globe holder for 14’’’/15’’’ burners; slotted and adjusted to the burner.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 41.8 cm, total height with chimney 75.7 cm.
