L.144

A French "Valentine" lamp, which has a somewhat modified form of the usual Valentine lamps. I was particularly attracted by the light blue glaze of the porcelain and the small, hand-painted cartouches, which rather resemble miniature paintings.

For more information about the French "Valentine" lamps, see L.298.

The thick porcelain wall and the typical light blue glaze of this lamp can also be found at the lamp L.085. The workmanship is so similar that I believe both lamps are from the same manufactory. On both lamps, the golden decorative lines are almost completely rubbed off.

The small tulip shade with its playful shape and painting complements the lamp very nicely.
