This lamp is a very typical French pillar lamp with a baroque sculptured base made of cast zinc and the usual marble column including a square marble plate under the column base. What is interesting here, however, is that all the zinc castings, including the metal undermount of the font, are painted in a graphite grey colour instead of the usual nickel plating. The raised areas have been sparsely heightened with gold bronze. I left everything as it was without any changes/cleaning.

The burner that came with it was a strange combination of completely different burner parts. I managed to buy a HS burner for the French market with the logo "Bec Rond Garantie", which fits perfectly to this French lamp.

The Baccarat tulip shade with its intense pink colour contrasts charmingly with the green font and marble. To ensure a better stand of the shade, I soldered three brass plates into the globe holder, which centre the shade without play.

The golden highlights of the metal mounts and the golden painting of the font complement each other very nicely. I think this lamp is a successful example of the medium-sized French column lamps in my collection.

Base, column mounts and font undermount of baroque decorated, openwork zinc casting; uniformly coloured graphite grey and sparsely heightened with gold. Square base, 12.7 x 12.7 cm.
Column and column plinth of dark green, yellowish veined marble. Impressed under the base: 262 Deposé.
Font of transparent, light green glass, optically blown, Ø 122 mm. Painted bows and garlands in gold.

Burner:
10’’’ Kosmos burner of Hugo Schneider, Leipzig, for export to France.
Wick knob marked: Bec Rond Garantie.
Flat wick 49 mm.

Glass chimney:
10’’’ Kosmos chimney. Height 243 mm, Ø fitter 40 mm.
Marked: Sili-Chrome - France - Choisy Le Roi.

Shade and shade holder:
Melon-shaped tulip shade by Baccarat, pink glass, fully etched pattern, fluted top rim. Without slip fitter.
Height 151 mm, Ø bottom opening 61 and bulge 148 mm.
70 mm globe holder for 10’’’ burners.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 32.7 cm, total height with chimney 60.5 cm.
Total weight 2040 g.
