A beautiful, small, silver-plated lamp from France, in pure French Art Nouveau. Produced around 1900-1910. The decoration is identical at the front and the back.

Serious problems emerged, however, when I examined the lamp: the two metal halves had literally come apart in the lower part of the lamp! A gap of 1 mm width gaped at the very bottom! I had to first glue the gap at the bottom with Stabilit glue, and then carefully seal the lamp from the inside with lots of epoxy resin.

The silver coating came out beautifully when cleaned and polished. I replaced the burner that came with the lamp, as the wick knob was completely broken. As a replacement I used a burner from Hugo Schneider, which was soldered to a small shade holder. I carefully silver-plated the burner and the shade holder.

In this way, a small, sweet lamp with a matching Vesta shade was created. It must be very rare in France in this version, because there these lamps were mainly used with tulips. I think the Vesta shade harmonises perfectly with the slender, elongated lamp body.

Lamp body of ornamentally embossed zinc casting in floral Art Nouveau style, fully silver-plated. A gap at the bottom between the two cast halves. Rectangular foot, 70 x 66 mm. Vase 89 mm at the widest point.
Lamp body is at the same time font.

8’’’ Kosmos burner of Hugo Schneider, Leipzig, soldered to the shade holder; silver-plated by me.
Wick knob marked: Logo of Hugo Schneider.
Flat wick 43 mm.

Glass chimney:
8’’’ Kosmos chimney. Height 230 mm, Ø fitter 36 mm.
Marked: Perfect Cristal - Kosmos 8''' + crown in garland (barely visible).

Shade and shade holder:
Vesta shade, white milk glass, colourless overlay, flat top rim.
Height 107 mm, Ø fitter 152 and bulge 161 mm.
155 mm shade holder for 8’’’ burners, soldered to the burner; silver-plated by me.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 16.0 cm, total height with chimney 42.3 cm.
Total weight 1060 g.
