L.047
A very British all-metal lamp by Veritas (Falk & Stadelmann), with a simple elegance and beautiful shape. The column and font are shown in the Veritas catalogue of 1933. It is probably a product from 1925-1930, as the shape and ornamentation are designed in a clear Art Deco style.
The lamp was complete except for one shade. The lamp consists of the usual ceramic base and brass parts. Despite its simplicity, the lamp has a beautiful shape in good proportions; it is thus fundamentally different from later, simpler brass lamps from Great Britain.
The Veritas duplex burner is solid, with two wick knobs and the obligatory extinguisher. Many years later, I managed to buy a Veritas ball shade at auction, which is also shown in the same catalogue and therefore fits the lamp perfectly.
