L.134

A Belgian floor lamp by Lempereur & Bernard with an imposing size and a round marble table in the centre. Dated around 1890-1910.

A stately, large floor lamp with additional candleholders and marble table; a rare find on eBay Germany. An antique dealer from Bad Neuenahr had offered the lamp on eBay, but only for self-collection. Therefore, the number of bidders was quite low and I was the lucky new owner. Maria and I then made a nice trip to Bad Neuenahr and picked up the lamp.

The lamp must have been electrified in the past. Because the middle part of the burner with the central draft had been removed, and the typical flame disc of the L&B lamps was also missing. How fortunate that a few days earlier I had bought the almost identical brass font with the same burner complete with the flame disc from France. Therefore, I was able to swap it all out and the floor lamp was quite complete!

As the Rochester shade supplied is rather high and the usual 18’’’ Matador chimneys for Belgian lamps hardly protrude from the neck of the shade, I used a chimney from France that fits well in dimensions but is quite long.
