L.312

The second tallest column lamp in my collection as the little sister of lamp L.044. I had bought the beautifully painted glass font and was now looking for a matching lamp. At some point I saw this offer: an electrified former church lamp, completely dirty and tarnished, but at an unbeatable price! Purchase price 15 euros; shipping costs 10 euros (from France!). I just had to buy it...

The lamp was electrified and there was no way to attach the font. By chance, I found an elegant way to mount the font: An undermount receiver from my collection almost fit on the top part of the column; I had to enlarge the diameter of this part by 1 mm with tedious grinding and could then glue the receiver for the font into it with superglue.

Contrary to my habit, I did not remove the patina from the brass parts of the lamp, but only cleaned and polished them superficially with steel wool, because the brown patina was quite uniform. I only removed the patina from the lion paws on the base and the three religious motifs. This makes the lamp look more interesting, but doesn't give it the shiny appearance of its bigger sister...

I then completed the lamp with a 20''' Matador burner with matching chimney as well as with the somewhat inconspicuous tulip shade I had got years earlier.
