A probably German table lamp with an extraordinary size. A tall vase of blue milk glass sits on a large cast brass base. My wife liked the colour of the glass and the painting very much. The unusual size also encouraged me to buy it. The lamp is probably from the first half of the 20th century. The large Vesta shade with printed motifs is younger than the lamp.

The vase in a slender, conical goblet shape has its own glass base. The font made of the same glass is inserted into the vase. The simple gold lines in the enamel painting are unfortunately partially rubbed.

The base is made of a mighty, somewhat rustic brass casting, which is actually necessary to provide support for the large lamp.

The supplied Vesta shade is also large, corresponding to the size of the lamp; the fitter width is 278 mm. It is supported by a shade holder with 4 support arms. Surprisingly, this shade holder is designed for 14'''/15''' burners and not for 20''' burners, which would be better for the lamp size. Nevertheless, I decided to keep the shade with the lamp.

The burner was an ordinary 14''' Kosmos burner. However, all the matching chimneys did not come out of the top of the shade. Only Kalthoff chimneys were somewhat higher. So I replaced the supplied chimney with a Kalthoff chimney. The burner burns well; the flame is high and steady, the light very pleasant.

14’’’ Reform Kosmos burner of an unknown German producer.
Wick knob marked: Kosmos=Brenner.
Flat wick 68 mm.

Glass chimney:
14’’’ Kalthoff chimney. Height 277 mm, Ø fitter 53 mm.
Marked: 14''' Reform Paul Schenck Selebenbergerstr. 30 + lion.

Shade and shade holder:
Vesta shade, white milk glass, colourless overlay, printed floral motifs, with longer neck, flat upper rim.
Height 200 mm, Ø fitter 278 and bulge 307 mm.
280 mm shade holder for 14’’’/15’’’ burners.

Lamp dimensions:
Height up to collar 42.3 cm, total height with chimney 74.5 cm.
Total weight 3840 g.
